This holiday season consumers will receive new electronics in the form of laptops, desktop computers, cell phones and other gifts. “In with the new and out with the old” is ok as long as proper disposal procedures are followed. It is your responsibility to safeguard the ecology when you get rid of your old electronic device. Electronic waste contains cadmium, lead, mercury, glass, and chromium. These are known contaminants to the environment. Electronic waste constitutes approximately 4% of the national solid waste stream but is growing 2-3 times faster than any other type of waste material (Source: EPA). The risk from electronic waste is that the toxins it contains may seep from the landfill to the ground water supply.
As well as the risk to your environment, your device may contain personal information that is highly susceptible to criminal exploitation. Never assume that your information is completely erased unless you use a specialist company who will certify that the information is gone.
TechnoRescue was recently highlighted on NBC nationally (12/26/07) as a company that adheres to a strict recycling and information security policy. We offer our clients a complete recycling and data destruction solution that solves the insecurity of handling end of life products.
TechnoRescue is an EPA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment registered recycler. TechnoRescue uses a combination of Department of Defense and proprietary data sanitation techniques for information security. All of our activity is certified with declarations of sanitation and recycling.
We invite you to attend a free recycling and information security seminar at our facility that will be held on the last Friday of each month at 3pm MST, beginning 01/25/08.
