Techno+Rescue featured on NBC News Report: "How to Properly Dispose of Old Electronics"

Techno+Rescue is extremely honored to announce that our company is featured in a nationally-released NBC News report about the crucial concerns, needs, and practices for properly recycling and disposing of your old computers and electronics. The story is particularly pertinent during this holiday season as many consumers will be replacing their old equipment with new electronic products. The story has been broadcast on local affiliates all around the U.S. in areas such as Idaho, Portland, Bangor, Atlanta, Virginia, Cleveland, and Tennessee just to name a few.

One of the original broadcasts and accompanying article can be found here:

Greetings from TechnoRescue

Greetings from Techno+Rescue, LLC:

We are an EPA-registered Large Quantity Handler of Universal Waste in the State of Colorado (EPA ID: COR000214767). Our company specializes in computer and electronic recycling services and is fully compliant with federal, state, and municipal regulations for the proper disposal of electronic waste and scrap.

Computer and electronic equipment contain hazardous materials such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium that can pollute landfills and seep into water supplies if they are not disposed of properly. In addition, old hard drives, cell phones, and personal storage devices contain a vast amount of sensitive and private information such as social security, bank account, and credit card numbers that can be stolen and used for criminal purposes.

Techno+Rescue, LLC offers safe recycling of unwanted computer and electronic equipment, secure and guaranteed data destruction, and certified disposal of electronic waste. Our company mission is to provide our clients with the most intelligent and environmentally-friendly recycling solutions possible, while protecting them from identity theft and fraud.

We accept lead-acid batteries, cabling and electrical wiring or cords, cameras, cell phones, copy machines, consumer and home electronics, computers, printers, hard drives and storage media, software, keyboards and mice, laptops, monitors, networking equipment, peripheral devices, phones, scanners, servers, home or auto stereo equipment, televisions, backup power supplies, metal scrap and even small home appliances such as toasters and space heaters.

We do not ship any equipment or waste directly to foreign handlers, reducing the chance that it will end up in the landfill of another country, and use only domestic metal, CRT, and plastics processors.

Finally, our company is always looking for opportunities to serve the community. We will gladly donate our services to neighborhood and school-sponsored recycling drives and strive to refurbish and donate at least 15% of our monthly recycled volume to local non-profit organizations and low-income schools or families.

Please join us in our global mission to conserve, protect, and recycle.

TECHNORESCUE REMINDING YOU “YOU CAN’T JUST THROW IT AWAY!”

This holiday season consumers will receive new electronics in the form of laptops, desktop computers, cell phones and other gifts. “In with the new and out with the old” is ok as long as proper disposal procedures are followed. It is your responsibility to safeguard the ecology when you get rid of your old electronic device. Electronic waste contains cadmium, lead, mercury, glass, and chromium. These are known contaminants to the environment. Electronic waste constitutes approximately 4% of the national solid waste stream but is growing 2-3 times faster than any other type of waste material (Source: EPA). The risk from electronic waste is that the toxins it contains may seep from the landfill to the ground water supply.

As well as the risk to your environment, your device may contain personal information that is highly susceptible to criminal exploitation. Never assume that your information is completely erased unless you use a specialist company who will certify that the information is gone.

TechnoRescue was recently highlighted on NBC nationally (12/26/07) as a company that adheres to a strict recycling and information security policy. We offer our clients a complete recycling and data destruction solution that solves the insecurity of handling end of life products.

TechnoRescue is an EPA and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment registered recycler. TechnoRescue uses a combination of Department of Defense and proprietary data sanitation techniques for information security. All of our activity is certified with declarations of sanitation and recycling.

We invite you to attend a free recycling and information security seminar at our facility that will be held on the last Friday of each month at 3pm MST, beginning 01/25/08.
